Luque - Cave (Cueva de la Encantada)

Cueva de la Encantada ( Cave of The Enchanted) is another tourist highlight within the municipality of Luque. Or more precisely said, under the town. At a depth of around forty meters (130 ft) directly below the center of Luque, the cave houses human paintings from the Neolithic and Limestone periods. It therefore testifies to the settlement of the area for thousands of years.

The cave of Luque is actually one of numerous caves that shape the karst mountains that are found throughout the area southwest of the town. Educational visits and workshops on prehistoric painting and the production of bone lamps are offered for students.

Outside of opening hours, the monument can be visited upon prior reservation.

Full Guided Tour Package

The full guided tour includes an introduction to the history of Luque and a visit to the Cueva de la Encantada Cave, the parish church of La Asunción and the city museum. The tour lasts approximately three hours. The price is 3.00 EUR per person.
