Visitor Center

Opened in October 2014, the Cordoba visitor center is the right place to get a comprehensive overview before discovering the city and its many treasures. The center is found at Plaza del Triunfo, next to the so-called Puerta del Puente (Bridge Gate). Its modern architecture perfectly meshes with the historic environment.

The visitor center is comprised of two buildings being separated by a pedestrian walkway. The south building has a viewing platform offering a postcard-perfect view of the Guadalquivir River, the Roman Bridge and the Calahorra Tower. The three story north building harbors the actual welcome center with the tourist information center, a café and a gift shop.

The basement of the building offers an insight in the Roman heritage of the city. Remains undiscovered on the occasion of the construction of the building have been integrated in the structure. The visitor center harbors a permanent exhibit dedicated to the Guadalquivir River and its meaning to the development of Cordoba in past times. Interactive screens and various models take visitors to a journey through more than 2,000 years of Cordoba’s history.
