Candlemas Celebration and
Medieval Market of Dos Torres 2020
Candlemas (Fiesta de La Candelaria) is one of the most important folk fests in the town of Dos Torres and the entire Pedroches Valley. Traditionally the fest is held the first weekend in February. Thus the 2020 event takes place on January 31st and February 1st.
On that occasion, there is a Medieval Market being held on Dos Torres’ two main squares, Plaza de la Villa and Plaza de Torrefranca, as well as on adjacent streets. The so-called Mercado Franco offers two days full of activities, including guided tours of the historic town center, tastings of regional products, falconer performances, music acts, and many more. Of course, visitors may purchase a range of handmade items being typical for the region. Visitors can exchange their money in special coins which may be used to make purchases on the market.
As a highlight, a large bonfire is sparked at Plaza de la Villa on Saturday at dusk.
Another feature worth visiting is a 3D video mapping covering the history and cultural legacy of Dos Torres.
Also on the very weekend, the Ruta Gastronómica de La Candelaria (Candlemas Culinary Tour) is held giving visitors the opportunity to try local dishes at discounted prices.
