Taberna El Potro C/ Lineros 2, 14002 Cordoba
|
|
Founded in 1894 by Emilio Pérez-Barquero, this tavern ranks among the most traditional establishments of that kind in Cordoba. For more than a decade, the El Potro has been managed by Asunción Arrabal Vidal.
Located adjacent to the famous Plaza del Potro Square, the tavern features not only an excellent location, but a great cuisine and is therefore a favored place to dine for locals as well as visitors. A large open-air terrace in front of the house has enough space to rest and enjoy the tavern’s specialties while orange trees provide pleasant shade.
Adjacent are the Museum of Fine Arts and the Museum Julio Romero de Torres, two of the top Cordoba museums. Further attractions being of particular interest to tourists are reachable within minutes by walking, as well.
In the course of its history, the El Potro was able to welcome countless celebrities. The brother of the famous painter Julio Romero de Torres frequently used to dine here. And even the painter himself was among the guests and used to dine here along with his friends, including Pepe Fragero or the French poet Dos Escarron.
