This tiny family-owned eatery is nestled in the heart of Cordoba’s traditional Santa Marina quarter which is well known for being the cradle of the city’s bullfighting tradition. Furthermore, the quarter may look back at a long tradition of popular folk festivals. Especially in spring and early summer the streets are crowded with folks flocking in for famous festivities, including the Maycross Fest, the Patio Festival or the Most Beautiful Balcony Contest.
And amidst all of that you may enjoy a stay in Taberna Viana. This little house succeeds and continues the tradition of former Casa Marín that has been popular with locals since 1960. Since fall 2009, Taberna Viana has been inviting guests, including visitors of the Viana Palace.
This worth-seeing palace (Palacio de Viana) is located in front of Taberna Viana and is also known as Museo de los Patios (Patio Museum) due to its number of beutifully decorated patios.
Taberna Viana is serving traditional Cordoba dishes and a rich variety of tapas. Among Viana’s specialties are pork knuckle, codfish “Biskay style”, codfish with sweet garlic, mushrooms with ham sauce, broad bean omelet or Pork “presa ibérica” in Pedro Ximénez wine sauce recommendable. Also, Taberna Viana has a variety of tasteful wine to choose from.
