Casa El Malacara C/ De los Judios 2, 14003 Cordoba

Welcome to this small traditional tavern that has been managed by Carlos and his wife Pilar since 2008. Tasteful dishes and tapas made with fresh, select ingredients and cooked to perfection are waiting to be enjoyed, as well as the obliging guest service.
El Malacara is not only indulging its guests in culinary delights, but in its privileged location. Nestled in a small alley, adjacent to medieval Puerta de Almodóvar city gate, it provides access to various sites of touristic interest, such as Casa Andalusí, synagogue, Zoco arts and crafts market, Plaza de Tiberiadas, bullfight museum and Mezquita Mosque and Cathedral.
Quite interesting is the name of this eatery, meaning as much as „The grumpy face“. There are two legends that try to explain this name. The first one says that there was a guy living in this neighborhood who was not willing to work in this tavern and therefore showed guests nothing but a grumpy face. The other myth tells that “El Malacara” was one of the dreaded Bandoleros of the group of the „Siete niños de Écija“ (Seven kids from Écija). No matter which version suits you best - a good time in El Malacara is always assured.
So enjoy typical tapas within El Malacara’s inviting ambiance. A small terrace under the city gate allows to experience the historic atmosphere of the site
