Yeguada Almuzara Stud Farm
Situated in the Guadalquivir Valley, on the foothills of the Sierra Morena Mountains, this horse breeding farm is a place worth visiting not only for horse enthusiasts. Unique performances explain the culture of the Andalusian horse and the art of driving cattle. Just eight kilometers (five miles) from Cordoba, the farm also invites to explore various historic items.
The actual farmstead is surrounded by ample pasture where the first examples of the admirable Andalusian race used to graze in ancient times. To date, this range land is known as Dehesas Reales (Royal Pasture).
An ancient stone wall, built on the order of king Felipe II., as well as the ruins of the neighboring palace town of Medina Azahara, show the historic significance of this property.
Delving into the world of the horse, the visitor will learn a lot, including the use of the so-called Garrocha (a long wooden bar traditionally used to drive the cattle), elegant advanced dressage moves, harmonic moves accompanied by Flamenco rhythms and much more.
Visitors can even enjoy watching horses roaming on the pasture.
