Hostels in Cordoba

If you are planning a holiday to Cordoba in Spain but need to stick to a budget, consider booking a hostel. Hostels are no longer confined to backpacker guests, they attract many different types of travellers. Aside from dormitories, many now offer private en suites or dedicated family rooms so couples and families can have that little bit more independence if meeting fellow travellers is not a holiday priority.

They might be cheap, but Cordoba hostels can be centrally located and close to all the city’s attractions including the Mezquita, one of the most beautiful mosques in Spain. You will also be near plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants and the hostel might have an on site bar – the perfect place to relax after a busy day of sightseeing.

A number of properties boast patios with nice views, particularly lovely in the warmer summer months and traditional buildings will have a central courtyard, typical of Cordoban architecture. In May, Cordoba’s local council hosts “The Festival of Patios”, and anywhere with a terrace will be celebrating the event, so bear this in mind when looking for a hostel in Cordoba.

Another way that hostels can save you money is by offering self-catering facilities. You can rustle up your own breakfast, put together a packed lunch or picnic using delicious local ingredients such as chorizo, cured hams and cheeses or make yourself a light supper if you don’t fancy a big meal in a Cordoba restaurant.

If you opt to stay in a dorm room, you can book a bed from as little as €11 per person, per night. A private room will cost more but typically, they sill still be cheaper than Cordoba hotel rooms. Aside from the price, hostels are a great way to meet people. So if you are solo traveller or looking for people to go hang out with, you can usually get chatting to other guests at a hostel. Don’t forget to ask about each others’ experiences of the city; where are the best Cordoba bars? Can they suggest any good day trips outside the city? You can discover all the bits that the guide book left out.

Hostels are totally geared up for budget travellers so find out if they have a tours or travel desk where you can arrange discounted excursions. Staff are usually local to the area so be sure to quiz them on the best cheap eats in the area or family activities.
