In October of 1980, José Velasco Boquizo decided to let a dream become reality: He opened a coffeehouse. Since then it has been his first priority to creat an atmosphere he had experienced in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in the 1950s and 1960s when he worked in these countries as confectioner. While staying in Vienna, Austria he had learned the art of roasting coffee. No wonder, the name of the family-owned coffeehouse refers to Vienna. Even today they are roasting coffee.
The actual café provides an enormous variety of coffee from all across the world. The specialties may be enjoyed in the coffehouse, but are available to go as well.
But Café Viena offers a lot more than just coffee. For breakfast they have a wide range of cakes and gateaus, including cheese cake, apple pie, chocolade cake, almond cake and not to forget the famous Pastel Cordobés.
Alternatively, guests may enjoy toast accompanied by butter and various sorts of jelly. A popular choice is toast with fresh native olive oil.
At lunch time, guests may choose from a variety of Italian dishes such as pasta and pizza as well as rice dishes. And a pot of freshly roasted coffee will make a meal even perfect at all times.
All the delicacies Café Viena has to offer can be enjoyed in front of the house, at the large terrace which is literally framed by several of Cordoba’s monuments: the Palace of the Duke of Rivas and the Santa Ana Church are in urgent vicinity. Even the famous Mosque and Cathedral of Cordoba is just a throw of a stone away.
